The Dedham Girls Softball League (DGSL) was established for the purpose of administering and promoting the softball program for the youth of Dedham. The Dedham Girls Softball League is a non-profit organization dedicated to the recreation and athletic endeavors for the youth of Dedham. The DGSL is recognized as the governing body of the recreational in-house program and all teams representing Dedham in various sanctioned leagues in Norfolk County and the greater metropolitan area.
In May, 2002 the DGSL Constitution and Articles of Organization were filed with the Federal Government. Since its beginning, the Board has organized various events to raise money for equipment and to subsidize skills clinics operated by professional trainers and coaches to get the best results, and at the same time keeping registration fees low.
Girls in the original 10 and under league have played for high school and college teams. Notably, Dedham High School's softball record has improved from a program that had winless seasons to a program that is now in the State Tournaments. Presently, girls who have come up through the program are enjoying successes at middle school and high school levels.
